PSM-Visayas 15th Annual Meeting and Regional Scientific Convention (18-19 October 2007)

The Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc. – Visayas Regional Chapter will hold its 15th Annual Meeting and Regional Scientific Convention on 18-19 October 2007 at the Sampaguita Gardens, New Washington, Aklan. This year’s convention has the theme, “Microbiology and Biotechnology for Countryside Development and Empowerment”.

Objectives:

i) To promote scientific knowledge of basic and applied microbiology and biotechnology;

ii) To stimulate scientific investigations and advancement in the frontiers of microbiology and related fields;

iii) To contribute to the development of education in microbiology.

VENUE

This year’s convention venue is the Sampaguita Gardens, a resort, amusement park, and convention center housed under one mansion. It is considered to be a unique, a must see and experience resort destination. It offers world class amenities, facilities and services. Aside from fine dining and accommodation, guests and visitors can make most of their stay in the resort’s recreational facilities such as Adult and Children’s Pool, Jojo’s Fitness Center, The Spa and Sammy’s Circus Rides. The resort has also a 43 ft. aquarium, a Butterfly Farm, a Precious Moments

museum and a Christmas Cottage, which sells Precious Moments collectibles.

Sampaguita Gardens is located in the municipality of New Washington, Aklant which 15 minutes away from the main town of Kalibo and only a 10- minute ride from the Kalibo airport. New Washington is also near the famous Boracay Island beach resort which is a 2-hour ride.

CALL FOR PAPERS
(for oral and poster presentation)

The main focus is Microbiology dealing on Basic, Agricultural, Veterinary, Environmental, Industrial, Education, Food, Medical or Aquatic research. Papers for oral/poster presentation should be unpublished or has not been presented in national or international meetings, with at least one PSM
member as author.

Submit abstracts (200-350 words) to the convention Secretariat on or before 24 September 2007 by electronic mail using Microsoft Word program to Dr. Rolando Pakingking <rpakingking@aqd.seafdec.org.ph>. The Secretariat will review submitted abstracts and authors will be advised acceptance for oral/poster presentation on 28 September 2007.
